Matchbook notebooks
Matchbook-style notebooks are easy and inexpensive to make — a great party activity. Or, make them in advance as favors or place cards. You could even use them for party invitations! Ours are 3 × 2.75 inches. We used half-sized index cards (pre-cut by Mead in a multicolor pack for 99 cents at Office Depot.) You can also use scrap paper or cut your own paper from any stock you have on hand. Use our template (print it onto card stock) to make the project easier. 1. Cut a long strip of cover stock, twice the length of your pages plus an inch. 2. A half inch or so from the bottom, fold once, and then fold again a quarter inch up. 3. Staple the pages at the bottom. 4. Fold top flap over the stapled pages. Crease twice for a neater fit. 5. Trim cover flap if necessary so that it fits nicely into the flap of the “matchbook.” 4. Decorate! You can just draw on your book, or glue stuff on it. For another set of directions, see greeting arts. |
